This has been an extraordinary week, post Macbeth. First order of the day, rest and recover, it was a challenging month, demanding a lot of energy, fortunately I am blessed with decent health (genes), so have staying power, but now its time to pace and prioritize events. The week was the sublime to the ridiculous, Buckingham Palace and a lovely
party for the National Youth Theatre…an organization close to my heart and then Comic Con. The party at the Palace celebrated the 60th anniversary of the NYT and the organizers did it proud. The the event was in the amazing State Rooms of Palace. What an extraordinary place it is, so full of history and atmosphere. As I walked down the corridor and stared at the massive paintings, I had only seen in books, the Gainsboroughs, Reynolds, Rembrandts, Landseers etc, and I got a real thrill seeing the pictures and sensing the history that went with it all.

Then on to the ridiculous, on Saturday …the NEC convention centre and the Comic Con event, where I sat signing photographs and saying hello to some lovely fans…..what would we do without them? However the real entertainment was people watching…all those who drifted by my table, who had dressed up as characters from their current favourite shows.

Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau

Princess Margaret
Going back to Buckingham Palace, I was thinking about the encounters I have had with members of the real family, I have had during my career. I worked with Prince Edward on a television show we produced and I spent one memorable evening with Princess Margaret and her husband the Earl of Snowden at the time, courtesy of Peter Sellers, a friend, who needed a date at the last minute for an evening out with them at the cinema and dinner afterwards. it was a delightful evening. I have been watching “The Crown” on Netflix and am enjoying it. However I have to say I think they have got the relationship between the Queen and Princess Margaret wrong. They are shown in real conflict, with each other….. however, judging from the brief evening I spent with her, the way Princess Margaret spoke about her sister, quite spontaneously, was with great obvious pride and affection. Think that had to be said.
All for now friends!
Hi Jane,
You keep referring to the Scottish play by its other name. That’s risky.
