2021- A New Year and Short Films To be Viewed

2021….A better year of new beginnings and hope. It promises to be a better year – we have vaccines for the devastating pandemic, a new President of the US, who, if nothing else, I believe, will calm some of the divisive turmoil in the country and we have some genuine, good activists leading the cause for a better environment

I am not a political animal, not one who believes that show business people should dabble in causes or politics, unless they are able commit to the cause wholeheartedly.  Of course as a private citizen, you have a right to your opinion and your beliefs, but I believe to try use any celebrity, you might have, to be an influencer in politics or anything outside your own field is a slippery slope.

I am an actress, an entertainer and believe my job is just that, to entertain people and hopefully give a little pleasure and escape. Been doing it a long time and I love it. The work is wonderful, but the the industry is challenging and highly competitive – “you’re not quite right for the part”, ” we’ve decided to go in another direction”, “you didn’t get the part”, are words that are very familiar… almost like old friends. So love it or leave it, there’s no room for anything else.

Recently I have discovered the pleasures of short film-making and I have been doing quite a bit of it. It keeps me going while waiting for bigger opportunities. Budgets are micro, you are are in control of the whole thing, you can choose to work with whomever you like and its fun working with new talent emerging on both sides of the camera. Better yet the appetite for short films is growing, people enjoy them in the same way, that they enjoy reading short stories and there are increasing opportunities for them to be seen.

I have been approached by one such Company Discover.film, a UK streaming platform exclusively for short films, which is building a very good reputation for screening quality short films, of all genres. ”  Described as  “the biggest short film distributor in the world providing quality entertainment to almost every county and growing fast.”  and  ” providing free entertainment to millions we distribute to major airlines such as Qantas, Etihad, Virgin Atlantic and other online platforms such as my5 all of which are looking to license content.”

How could I resist that.  Discover has taken the three of my most recent shorts – ABOUT ANDY, COUGAR and LAST EMBRACE. I am delighted and will keep you posted on the release dates. Thank you Discover.film!
